Doug's Excellent Absorption Law Calculator
This calculator determines the total absorption at wavelengths
between 0.10 and 3.33 um using the algorithm determined by
Cardelli, Clayton, and Mathis (1989)
[ApJ 345 245] .
Required input parameters are:
- R_V the ratio of total to selective absorption at V
- A_V the total absorption in mags at V
- W_um the target wavelength (um)
Commonly accepted values of R_V are 3.1 for the
Milky Way and 3.3 for the LMC. No sanity check of input parameters
is currently done.
To obtain the total absorption in mags at the target wavelength,
enter the appropriate values and then press the Compute button.
